1.
Shadows grow into night I wait for you in fading light And through the day there's no love lost Star-crossed lovers of the dusk Hear the final cry of day as sunset dies away And we welcome you to the bloodlust
2.
Wasted Hero 08:18
You take a step out from the ledge Waiting below, a bed of snow A dish that’s best served cold Now falling fast, these thoughts your last How cruel the jest, to live depressed The circus is over it's time to go home Find yourself searching, yearning, hurting Nothing to say or feel Soul is full, final blow Black sheep of the family fading Impact severe, you disappear And tell yourself it's for the best Alone, is that all you've known? Find yourself hating, freezing, falling Nothing to think or do Soul is old, ready to go Black sheep of the family fading So far below, a wasted hero Say nothing of the rest The last laugh is the best Find yourself tearing, fearing, leaving Shock that leaves you stunned But the show, it must go on Black sheep of the family fading Bold, you've gone so far, so far down A wasted life, falling down So far below, a wasted hero Say nothing of the rest The last laugh is the best
3.
Shadows grow over your own A bitter chill descends, are you sure you are alone? Such rage, it can defy the grave Don't tread on me, for you it's too late to step lightly Now you're hellbound, guilty (fool me once) Hellbound and guilty (take my pride but never twice) You are the key, malice unlocked from the cage I'm going to... I'm going to haunt you when I die And I will watch you, watch you cry No sooner than I've closed my eyes My spirit will begin to rise And this a promise I will keep Malicious target on your back Hunted by something in black Too late to regret your misdeed I'm going to... I'm going to haunt you when I die As you sleep I reach out for thee knife in my back Now you're hellbound, guilty (fool me once) Hellbound and guilty (take my pride but never twice) You are the key, malice unlocked from the cage I'm going to... I'm going to haunt you when I die And I will watch you, watch you cry

Down from the trees and down further still Falling stars on display Gaze up high, what lights above so holy now Means nothing to closed eyes Skin grows pale, and no faith Stuck inside you fail Holding the spirits in, the truth it does reveal The nightmare is retold Stranded alone, a future night Sailed on darkened seas To foreign shores and let free Days go by and life spills down the page Do you really feel awake? Can you hear what fate awaits? Set free with nothing to believe No heritage to seek And I, a missing link I feel In chains inside of me Uncultured now, a modern man Is born from time and pain Southern cross guides the way Auroras light the path Knuckles drag coastal shores Inside I’m still the same A pile of bones under moonlight Masquerade of graves Adaptations of misery Time alive is nothing if it's grey Have you heard the latest fame? Is it the bells of your doomsday? Set free with nothing to believe No heritage to seek And I, a missing link I feel In chains inside of me

Spleen 08:20
What is the measure of a man bent down? An eye for an eye Drunk far beyond the point of blind Broken bottles decorate the wall The lesson learned One more soul to burn The spirits are circling me tonight Anaesthetic pool Reflecting back what I despise As you arrive I'm no longer here Into my head Completely disappeared It's gone on too long Up from the grave, rising from the bed that I have made Liver heals the pain but the spleen is where the penance is paid Another final breath With you by my side I can feel like I’ve really died Blood and red wine, my spirit on fire We take to the lawless night Ten tons of man, a skull in my hand It's witching hour, you know it's too late She's a curse in a dress, a poison temptress I won't get away tonight My mind is long gone, I cannot go on But misfortune, it favours the slave Down the wrong paths Chasing too fast Memories won't fade Endlessly played out It's gone on too long So long Up from the grave, rising from the bed that I have made Liver heals the pain but the spleen is where the penance is paid Yeah another final breath With you by my side I can feel like I’ve really died
6.
Endlessly calling out Beyond my hand I feel you in the shadows alone Close below in darkness There lies a love once known to me but now it's gone Say it, release me from this pain Make it true again Reaching my arms through to you Red roses on darkened soil Erotic vines caress the lines of statues engraved Hear your words still echoing Deep in the mist a kiss is blown from frozen blue lips Scream it, release me from this pain It must be you again Reaching my arms through to you Reaching out for you Like angels fierce and tawny-eyed Back to your chamber I will glide Hither where thou art wont to sleep Amid the shadows hollow and deep O darksome beauty you shall swoon At kisses colder than the moon And fondlings like a snake who coils Sinuous round the grave he soils And with my kiss your blood I take In lustful sin a life erased The fanfare to eternal sleep A piercing scream as I bite deep At the end, is she there? See right through, is she there? Black and blue, is she there? At the end

Falling Star 06:52
All alone but together we're here at last A violent zone, looking up to long black clouds You wish upon a star The icy seas we shared are in the past Beyond the trees a creature fades to black This moment lives forever Blacked out, torn down Your lies met mine and blew them away Insides split in half Years of memories lost again Drag you down, it's taken so far low, and sinking fast You march towards your final day The waters cold, we're so far down, no light above You wished upon a falling star Scales out, armour on Let's see who sinks or swims in frame Insides split in half A candle snuffed, a new bloodstain A star is born Hearts desire Frail and hope fading When fate is unkind to those who love Lightning strikes waters blue It makes no difference who you are No fate is too extreme for you

"Spleen is a very unique and engaging release that will appeal to old-school fans of Gothic/Doom Metal. The band’s music is very diverse and thanks to a signature vocalist they have all the elements to be unique and noticed in a sea of copy-cats."

"Spleen’s a revelation, on many levels, but mainly and especially, in its wide-ranging versatility and its balanced capture of light and dark. The hopeful continuum and consistent diversity are clear USP’s, highlighting it’s creativity and originality. A long, but very intriguing and worthwhile aural journey."

"I could easily believe that several singers contributed to this, and yet it is only Chris G who gives his voice here. This man must be almost a chameleon, because this seems impossible to me in a normal way. As a Type O Negative fan you are selling yourself short when you ignore this album. As a gothic/doom fanatic too!"

Rating 85/100

"Although the album is heavily steeped in the traditions of the founding fore fathers of Doom, the band also strikes out on their own, with a modern twist. The way they use melody, for example, is a welcomed addition to their brand of Doom, as is their use of keyboards at just the right time. This truly was a pleasure to listen to."

"Gloomy, inspiring and extremely detailed, Spleen is a fantastic return to action by Orphans of Dusk, and may that represent just the first step as they restart their journey through the dark and grim lands of Gothic and Doom Metal."

This Winter, Orphans of Dusk opens their goth-doom gasket again, coming back to life to present “Spleen”, their haunting new album. Spreading its vice over 8 songs, Spleen’s full length duration enables the band, over the course of 50 minutes, to bring listeners further into their sublime dark universe, pushing further all facets that gave its identity in the first place. Spleen picks up where Revenant left off, immediately displaying a well produced record and melodies that will immediately find its place in many gothic and doom music libraries. On Spleen, Orphans of Dusk however chooses to focus less on the previous atmospheric death-doom elements, and more on the gothic vocals and guitar harmonies. As a result, Spleen hits like a stake through the heart – it is the band’s most mature offering to date, and one that should gather the world’s gothic-doom scene’s attention.
